The Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, has called for collaboration with security agencies in the state to tackle insecurity in the Central Senatorial District of the State.
Senator Williams made the call during a courtesy visit to some heads of key security agencies in Calabar, the State capital.
The visit was in recognition of the crucial roles the security agencies play to maintain law and order in the State.
He expressed gratitude to the heads of the respective agencies for their dedication and efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the people of the State, especially during the festive season.
The Central Senatorial District Senator further stressed the need for them to do more to tackle the recent issues of kidnapping in some communities in Ikom local government area of the State.
Senator Williams also charged the security agencies to improve on the information gatherings that would avert communal clashes as the people approach the farming season.
In their responses, the heads of the DSS, NSCDC, and Police expressed their appreciation for the Senator’s visit, noting that, “it is a testament to his commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property of his constituents.
They also assured him of their readiness to closely collaborate by pooling their expertise and resources for the greater benefit of the citizens.
The courtesy visit which began with a warm reception at the office of the Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, was followed by a visit to the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River State Command and the Director of the Department of State Service (DSS), Cross River State Command.
