Gov. Idris appoints outgoing HoS Adviser on Civil Service Matters

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu has appointed the outgoing Head of Service (HoS), Alhaji Safiyanu Garba-Bena Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service Matters.

He disclosed this during a send forth organised in honour of the outgoing HoS held in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Gov. Idris, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Tafida, said the appointment was in appreciation of the wonderful contribution of the outgoing HoS to the progress and development of the state civil service.

The governor lauded the outgoing HoS for transforming the state civil service during his tenure.

He said: “Alhaji Safiyanu Garba-Bena has left an indelible mark on Kebbi State Public Service Reform. Your tenure has been a very transformative journey marked by innovation, dedication and selflessness.

“You have started a reform that transformed our civil service, fostering a culture of efficiency, transparency and accountability.

“It is worthy of note that your reforms have enhanced service delivery, capacity building, which empowered staff to excel. Your legacies extend beyond policies and structure,” he said.

The governor noted with satisfaction that the outgoing HoS had inspired a new generation of civil servants giving them the bundle of integrity, professionalism, patriotism and discipline.

While congratulating Garba-Bena for completing a successful meritorious service of duty, the governor said the state government remained grateful for his leadership, mentorship and impact to continue to shape the state civil service.

Responding, the outgoing HoS, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba-Bena said: “Today marks a very important and indelible milestone in my life, the day I will bow out of civil service.

“To the glory of Almighty Allah, I have diligently served Kebbi State to the best of my ability as attested by different speakers here.

“The civil service, as you are all aware, is the engine room of government where policies and programmes of government are being implemented,” he said.

Garba-Bena appreciated the Kebbi State Government for giving him the opportunity to serve in that capacity as well as all the hard working men and women in the civil service for their individual and collective sacrifices.
