Kaduna: LP’s Ekene Adams beats Fifth term member to emerge winner of Chikun/Kajuru HoR

The Labour Party candidate, Hon. Ekene Adams Abubukar has emerged winner of the Federal House of Representatives for
Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency after defeating fifth term House of Representatives member.

The Independent National Electoral
Commission INEC, declared Ekene winner on Monday.

Ekene defeated the incumbent Rep
Member, Hon. Yakubu Barde popularly
known as no shaking of the opposition
People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) who has represented the Constituency, since 2003.

The Returning Officer, in Kujama, the
headquarters of Chikun/Kajuru Local
Government Area, Prof. Bashir Abubukar
said Ekene polled 57,725 to defeat
incumbent PDP candidate, Barde who
polled 47,937 while APC’s Caino Cafra Boaz came distant third with 19,293.

He said Ekene has met the requirements of the law and therefore he is declared
elected.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the
declaration, Ekene said the voice of the
people has prevailed, attributing the victory to God whom he said, gives power.

Ekene maintained that his administration will focus on improving the livelihood of the citizenry as earlier promised, adding that he remains the people’s servant

Ekene said: “It’s a victory for all, we have
struggled for it, me, you and everyone. For sure the people have spoken and for sure the people wants to see our constituency liberated.

“I must thank you for giving me the
opportunity to serve as your servant in the Green Chamber. I hereby stretch my hands of fellowship to the other candidates that God has chosen me ahead of them, Not that am better than any of you but I believed it’s victory for all. Let’s join hands together to liberate the constituency” He added.
