Benue 2023: Again, Rev.Father Alia sweep APC primaries

A Catholic priest, Rev Fr Hyacinth Iornem Alia, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election rerun in 12 Local Government Areas and three council wards in Benue State’s Buruku Local Government Area, North Central Nigeria.

Mr Joel Omajali, chairman of the rerun committee, announced the results on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the APC State secretariat in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, saying a total of 366,546 voters were registered, 292,930 were accredited, a total of 270,353 votes were validly cast, and Fr Alia won with 195,314 votes.

The rerun was held in the local government areas of Ogbadibo, Ushongo, Konshisha, Oju, Kwande, Agatu, Ohimini, Ado, Obi, Okpokwu, and Apa.

Emma Maji, the Committee’s Secretary, called the repeat election “free, fair, and credible.”

On the 27th of May, 2022, the Benue APC held its governorship primary election, with Alia becoming victorious. However, other contenders, including Chief Barnabas Gemade, Chief Mike Andoakaa, Dr Mathias Byuan, Chief Stephen Lawani, and Prof. Terhemba Shija, sent a petition to the party’s National Working Committee, requesting that the election be called off, citing multiple electoral irregularities. As a result, the NWC ordered a repeat in 12 local governments, which took place on June 8th and 9th, 2022, with Alia retaining his overwhelming victory.

Shortly after the results were announced, the party’s State Deputy Chairman, Hon. Stephen Tsav, presided over a congress that affirmed the outcome of the rerun gubernatorial primary election on behalf of the party’s State Chairman, Comrade Austin Agada

The governorship primary in Benue State has been declared null and void by the All Progressives Congress.

The nullification was recommended in a report delivered to the APC headquarters in Abuja in order to save the party the misery of not fielding a candidate in the general elections in 2023.

Factionalisation: Labour Party Nat. Sec. disowns Calistus Okafor

The National Secretary of Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim has disown the alleged self claim factional Chairman of the party Calistus Okafo who also falsely presented one Mr. Jude Ezewanfo as his presidential candidate, asserting that there is no faction in the party.

Speaking in a Radio Programme in Kaduna, Ibrahim said Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi is the authentic presidential candidate of the party, dully elected at a convention organized by the leadership of Mr Julius Abure as national chairman, supervised and recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

Ibrahim said Okafor and his co-travellers are tools in the hands of those who do not wish Nigeria well. Those who think money can be used to buy everyone, but realised that the Labour Party is accepted by majority of Nigerians who crave credible political leadership and see it as the only credible alternative to give Nigerians the President they desperate need to salvage Nigeria.

The National Secretary called on Nigerians, especially the citizens in the South East not to be distracted by the likes of Okafor and his sponsors, but mobilize support for Mr Peter Obi, utilise the Labour Party in his quest to liberate Nigeria from the shackles of money bags and godfatherism.

2023: You are No Match for Atiku-PDP Mocks Tinubu

2023: You are No Match for Atiku-PDP Mocks Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) mocks Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for clinching at very great price, the Presidential ticket of the moribund, decrepit and crippled All Progressives Congress (APC), which has since served out its purpose as a fraudulent contraption that brought in the failed, corrupt and rudderless administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Our Party also sympathizes with Asiwaju for embarking on a journey to nowhere as he is no match for PDP’s more popular, more competent and more prepared Presidential Candidate, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar the unifier and the people’s choice, who defeated President Buhari fair and square in the 2019 Presidential election.

Asiwaju will soon realize that Nigeria is not one of his acquired estates or fiefdoms and that the Nigerian people are not his political string-puppets and retinue of lackies, from whom he bought the APC Presidential ticket.

Asiwaju will also soon realize that Nigerians hold him responsible for his self-confessed role in installing the failed Buhari-led administration that subjugated the people, brought excruciating economic hardship, acute poverty, bloodletting, terrorism, mass killings, promoted disunity, tribalism and nepotism, lawlessness, massive treasury looting and unpardonable life-discounting experiences to our country.

It is indeed reprehensible that Asiwaju, after being handed an APC flag that refused to unfold in recognition of the gloomy times of the APC, did not demonstrate any form of remorse for the injuries he engineered and caused our nation in the last seven years.

His failure to express empathy for the victims of violence, kidnapping, mass killings and acts of terrorism, especially the recent gruesome attack in a sacred place of worship, St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo in Ondo State serves as a foretaste of the big cover up and harrowing experience that Nigerians will face, God forbid, should Asiwaju emerge as President in 2023.

His acceptance speech further exposed his manifest lack of capacity, presence of mind, resourcefulness and selflessness to manage the affairs of a nation as complex as Nigeria.

From Asiwaju’s egotistic outbursts before and after the APC manipulative National Convention, it is crystal clear that his life-long dream of clinching the APC Presidential ticket is not for the wellbeing of Nigerians but out of desperation to lay hands on the keys to the nation’s treasury.

Asiwaju has insulted the sensibilities of Nigerians enough and this APC National Convention will be his final political outing. This is because Nigerians have had enough and are now, more than ever before, ready and out on the platform of the PDP to defend our nation and reject Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential election.

The Nigerian politics is far more complex and beyond the Lagos politics where Asiwaju operates with brawl and deployment of violence rather than brain.

What Nigerians needs now is a unifier in the face of the pain and discomfort inflicted on them by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his live band of APC looters and mean human beings. He needs to know that Nigeria is not Lagos!

The PDP therefore charges Nigerians to continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with our Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, their choice President in this mission to Rescue, Redirect and Rebuild our nation from the misrule of Asiwaju and his APC.

APC Presidential Primary : ‘Tinubu’s Victory Shows His High Degree of Acceptability In the North,’ Says Gov Ganduje
By  Zainab Adesanya and Funmi Caleb, Kaduna
Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar  Ganduje  has hailed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his landslide victory in the just concluded and officially announced Presidential primary election of All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that it shows his high degree of acceptability in the North, as a bridge builder
Speaking in a Press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Kano State Governor Abba Anwar and made available to New Nigerian, said  Governor Ganduje  thank all those who participated in the process as aspirants or officials, for promoting democratic process,  assuring that APC would wax stronger as 2023 general election is drawing nearer.

After congratulating Northern governors for their earlier unanimous decision of supporting power shift to the South and President Muhammadu Buhari’s acceptance of same, he encouraged that, “This patriotic decision will further cement all parts of the country.”
“President Muhammadu Buhari’s role in making sure that democratic principles are safeguarded in the process, is highly commendable and exemplary,” he praised.

Hon Jafaar the beam and the growing horse of Adamawa North APC

Hon Jafaar the beam and the growing horse of Adamawa North APC

It has already been seen that Adamawa All Progressives Congress (APC) is surviving and standing strong in the Northern Senatorial District because people like Hon Jafaar Magaji Haske is holding strong the hope of the party.

The Young Lawmaker representing the people of Mubi North, Mubi South and Maiha in the national Assembly green chambers have seen hope in him. They believe Haske is a child of necessity that will bring success in APC way come 2023 if the party in Adamawa will tour along thought of reasoning.

He is holding safe the board of the party from capsizing right from Local Government Congresses up to state level convention to the stage of producing flags bearers of the party at all levels.

The performance of Jafaar as a national lawmaker is without measure and without mincing words that he worked the work for humanity. He remains a beacon of pride to the entire people of Adamawa northern zone to this end. He is a hope and a beam of defense of the APC Party in the state.

But It is however worrisome to know and realize that the feats, records, and indelible legislative services he rendering to the nation and by extension the people of Adamawa Northern zone are not being appreciated by some party members.

Their efforts in making sure the challenge him in the court of over his victory in the last party’s primaries, is to be seen as an act of unleashed wickedness against the people of Mubi North, Mubi North and Maiha who are happy with the representation of Magaji.

The last Congress was purely decided by delegates and the entire people of the area who warned the delegates to follow their bidding in voting in Jafaar. Magaji is a star Representative member. He has passed many bills, some have been translated to laws, and his motions and contributions on the floor of the house are today being used as the pillars that are contributing to the development of the Nation.

Jafar is a growing horse of glory to the APC family. He has achieved a lot in many areas that today are being described as the work of hero from the land of beauty (Adamawa). A leader par excellence, he is a party man and a grassroots Mobilizer whose local politics has distinguished him as a Man with exceptional leadership qualities and decked with a passion to serve humanity.

Magaji’s notable and unique style of leadership is his salient ways of touching the lives of hundreds of people in manifolds. He empowered women and Youth in thousands, he secured job opportunities for hundreds of many others. He is a celebrity to date who has endeared himself in the heart of his people.

Anybody wishing him out as a winner through whatever means, court injunction or personal attacks is wasting his or her time because it’s time for him to shine and serve humanity and the people are with him, backing him to continue the good work.

A Man with these shining records whose Adamawa communities are seeing him as an idol of good stewardship, a Man with unforgettable records of achievements if APC will trade him way in Adamawa state, then the party should forget to exist in Northern zone.

Haske has immensely paid his dues for the party. He served the party diligently and well as a founding member, he knows well, how the system operates and how to attract better things for the people because he understands the value change in the party’s system.

I’m calling on the APC at the National level not to gamble with the ticket by allowing people who do not have the political muscles and wherewithal to take over through kangaroos means because of their primordial and personal interest. Experience count, they say. Haske is a thorough-based politician whose knowledge is to bring winning to the threshold of the APC family.

Why Otumba Can’t Contest Guber Primaries In LP, any Other Party In Adamawa.

Why Otumba Can’t Contest Guber Primaries In LP, any Other Party In Adamawa.

candidates in various positions ahead of the general election and politians jumping from one party to another to seek relevant particularly after losing election in their previous party may have to wait till the next eletionareeing year as the new electroal act forbids such movements

Section 115(d) states that a person can’t not vie for another party’s ticket for the same position in the same election.

One man who has violated this provision of the act is Alhaji Umar Mustphar ( Otumba of Ekiti).

According to section 115 (d) of the amended electroal act, ” a person can not contest election for the same position in two parties on the same election” which according to the act is criminal.

It could be recalled that Otumba of Ekiti came a distance fifth in the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primary and also tried his ambition in Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and again he lost his bid to contest for the Governorship election in Adamawa with a wide margin as he scored 41 votes against the winner who scored over 500 votes.

Not satisfied, the Otumba of Ekiti who is famous for his hard stance of destroying the great interchange and flyovers constructed by Finitiri administration has again shifted his luck to Labour party (LP).

Some members of the party in the state are already protesting the entrance of Alhaji Umar Mustphar in the governorship contest of LP, the members are saying due process and the electoral act should be followed.

Dr. V.T Tame who is one of the founding member of the party in the state and a governorship hope for party said ” the party is not for the highest bidder stressing that he and some members have stood for the party when the party was almost dead only for someone who lost governorship primary election in two political parties in less than three weeks to come and pick form to vie for the governorship ticket”

He added that section 115(d) clearly states that a person can not contest primary election for a particular position on the election in two different political parties.

While section 115(k) states that anyone who violates this provision of the act is liable and will face a two year jail term.

Otumba who has failed in two primary election for the same position in two different parties can not be allowed to because he will scuttle the good chances of Labour party in the general election if he picks the ticket as the electoral act will disqualifies him. Dr. Tame said.

Owo Attack: Tinubu, Nigerian governors donate N125 million to victims

Owo Attack: Tinubu, Nigerian governors donate N125 million to victims

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu, on Monday, visited Owo, where gunmen attacked and killed dozens of worshippers in a church.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State received Mr Tinubu.

Speaking at the Olowo of Owo’s palace, Mr Akeredolu described the Pentecost Sunday, when the incident happened, as “a black Sunday.”

“A heinous crime of this level has never been experienced in the Southwest.,” the governor said.

“A group of people, terrorists, came into a very serene area, into a city, and commit this horrific crime. It’s heart wrecking. This is unbearable and challenging to us. Like I said, we are determined to go after these criminals.”

Mr Tinubu said the attackers meant more damage than Governor Akeredolu described.

He assured that he will support the government to find the attackers.

“God in His infinite mercy saved some people. Some people died as a result of this evil act. We pray that they will not die in vain.

“We as promoters and supporters of this government, we will do everything to apprehend those who perpetrated this crime.

“Kabiyesi, may God Almighty give peace to you and the people of Owo and the families of those who are directly affected. It is very hard to take.”

Mr Tinubu was accompanied to Owo by a former speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; former Lagos Deputy Governor, Femi Pedro; former head of Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu; Pius Akinyelure; among other prominent politicians in the country.

Mr Tinubu donated N50 million to the families of the victims of the attack and N25 million to the Catholic Church.

“Whatever we can do as politicians and as government supporters, we will do. We pray that Almighty God will continue to spare your lives. Government will not relent.”

Responding, the Olowo of Owo, Gbadegesin Ogunoye, called on the Federal Government to flush out all illegal occupants of the state forests across the South-west.

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) also donated N50 million to victims of the attack

The Chairman of the NGF and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, made the donation when he paid a visit to the governor at the Government House on Monday in Akure.

Mr Fayemi was accompanied by a former governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Ibikunle Amosun.

Both are also APC presidential aspirants.

They were later led by Mr Akeredolu to the residence of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, Jude Arogundade, before moving to Owo to commiserate with the Olowo of Owo in his palace.

Mr Fayemi, who described the attack as least expected, stated that Owo had been a very peaceful environment.

“It is a serious and unusual attack on the people who can’t go out and farm or worship God in peace. We are all shocked.

“Just like the governor said, these people shall not go unpunished. They will be hunted down and brought to book. But this cannot save the lives that have been lost or save the wounded from discomfort.

“As leaders of the people, we will redouble our efforts. This is happening across the county and we are concerned. We know how troubled you will be. And we know that this is something that troubles our minds.

“For now, the governments at the state and federal levels are working to bring the perpetrators to book.

“My colleagues in the Governors Forum have asked me to donate N50 million to the Catholic Church to ameliorate the condition of the families of the victims. This is a crime against humanity.” Mr Fayemi said.

The Bishop of Ondo Diocese described the attack as evil.

He urged the governors to ensure that those behind the killing and their sponsors were brought to book.

“I appreciate your coming and comment. How did we get here? Have we lost our mind and humanity? Even in war situation, nobody kills children and women. Nobody attacks the church.

“I am calling on you the leaders of the country, I think we need to talk and we need to be frank with ourselves.

“This cannot happen without the backing of some powerful people. Those behind this no matter how powerful they are must be brought to book.

“How are we presenting ourselves as primitive? Ondo state doesn’t deserve this. Humanity doesn’t deserve this. This doesn’t present us well. People are laughing at us,” Mr Arogundade said
