2023: SDP ‘Walk For Democracy’, Canvasses Votes For Candidates
SUPPORTERS of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Monday embarked on a road walk in Lagos State to canvass votes for their presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo and other candidates of the party.
The supporters initially converged at the SDP Secretariat in Yaba at around 8 am from where they moved to Ebute Meta, Obalende, Iyana-Oworo, Maryland, Ikorodu Road then to Computer Village in Ikeja, soliciting votes for their candidates.
Addressing the residents in Obalende and other areas, the vice-presidential candidate of the party Mr.Yusuf Buhari, urged those who were yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the deadline extension by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do so.
Buhari said the party chose ‘Walk for Democracy’ as part of the Lagos presidential campaign rally to reach out to the grassroots and educate voters on why they need to vote for SDP as the best alternative that would transform Nigeria.
Speaking with journalists, the Deputy Director General for SDP presidential campaign council, Mrs. Khadija Okunnu-Lamidi, said the party is one of the oldest political parties in the country, urging Nigerians to vote for Adebayo as the next president.
Okunnu-Lamidi said “This is the party that gives mandate to Late MKO Abiola. The democracy at that period was truncated. This is thirty years after and we are in 2023, as luck would have it, we now have another candidate who understands the issues, and how to govern. He is very intelligent and well-educated. He is very much in tune with the reality of the grassroots, and that’s what is important, most of the candidates we have now have been in the system and are corrupted by the system, we can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results. This is why it’s important that Prince Adewole Adebayo, who is the people’s choice, should be given a chance to govern the country”.
She said that the party will get rid of poverty in the country, saying that if poverty was eradicated, other issues like unemployment, insecurity and other challenges facing the country would be a thing of the past.
Okunnu-Lamidi said “Our campaign is all about farewell to poverty. This farewell to poverty is the same theme that MKO Abiola had, but guess what, thirty years later, poverty is getting worse, insecurity now has a grandchild called kidnapping, and all metrics you can use to measure poverty have increased. The number of people and the level of poverty itself also increased.
”We are here to eradicate poverty and insecurity. These things, once we take care of them, solve the whole issue, solve healthcare problems, and give dignity back to the citizens. Where there is dignity of lives, our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will increase. We have the number, we just need to get productivity out of them. A hungry man can’t work and strategize and these are the things to fix in order to boost productivity and boost the economic status of everyone.
”I urge Nigerians not to sell their votes but vote their conscience and presidential candidate that would assist in reposing confidence in Nigerians”.
She added “We expect Nigerians to make a choice devoid of money, as you know the money that is being spent in politics, most of the politicians are not spending their money, rather they spend your money to campaign to you, to continue doing the same things. I expect Nigerians to listen to issues and stop getting swayed by the theatre they are bringing into it.
”They are not talking about poverty, they are not talking about how to address the problem of out-of-school children, they are not talking about finding lasting solutions to the flooding in Nigeria, they are not talking about the availability of potable water, good healthcare. What they are talking about is to keep dancing, keep thinking that politics is a game or theatre or a clown show. No, it is real because it affects your life.
”I am glad that we are finally getting to the issues and we are finally leaving that nonsense behind and bringing someone like Prince Adewole Adebayo who is young. Our candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo is 51 years old and he is capable of turning things for the better in Nigeria “.
The walk was led by the 0residential candidate of SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo, running mate, Mr. Yusuf Buhari, the Deputy Director-General of SDP Presidential Campaign Council, Mrs. Khadija Okunu- Lamidi and other Chieftains.
The presidential and National Assembly elections will be held on 25th February while the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections will be held on 11th March.

Currency Swap: CBN Governor working for PDP to sabotage Buhari’s government -Arewa Youths

As the deadline for the currency Swap inches closer, the Arewa Youths for Development and National Unity has accused Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor Mr. Godwin Emefiele of working for the main opposition Party, People’s Democratic Party.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday afternoon at the Arewa House in Kaduna, the National Coordinator Comrade Hamza Muhammed Haruna said “having witnessed, first hand, Emefiele’s total disregard for calls including the National Assembly to relax the January 31st deadline, we are convinced that Emefiele is an enemy of the state and a saboteur of the Buhari’s government.”

“We are convinced also that he is probably working in cohorts with elements in the opposition PDP. Resisting entreaties to extend the deadline of the currency swap for no justifiable reasons, is a wake up call for all Nigerians especially Northerners.

“We urge the president to immediately sack this deeply partisan politician and incompetent regulator before he buries the entire nation.” Haruna maintained.

The group insisted that the currency swap regime started in October 2022, with a window of six months. “This period is inadequate from the word go. In developed countries like the UK, this process takes a minimum of three years with the old currency existing side by side with the old one.”

“Presently, UK is undergoing a new currency change with the demise of the longest monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

‘In keeping with tradition, the new currency bears the image of the new King Charles III. This is the UK with over three hundred and fifty banks in all the nook and crannies of Britain!

Haruna lamented that “here with all our obvious deficits, Emefiele is determined to bury the nation by insisting that the deadline is sacrosanct. The signs of a failing policy is all too apparent as up till this weekend, most commercial banks were still dispensing the old notes, confirming our apprehension that the deadline is not feasible.”

The group argued that “we are of the considered opinion like most Nigerians, that the difficulty in accessing the new currency notes and the intransigence of the CBN governor to the deadline despite entreaties from eminent citizens and leaders of thought, among whom is His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, is deliberate and meant to inflict damaging economic injuries on majority of Nigerians, especially those in rural Nigeria who forms 70 to 75 percent of the populace.”

SDP Presidential Campaign Team Pays Courtesy Visit to HRH Oba Joseph Olubiyi Toriola Ajibise Ogo 1

The Social democratic Party (SDP) has promised to reduce the rate of poverty in Nigeria and provide opportunities for the youths if elected into office.
The Vice presidential candidate of the party, Yusuf Buhari made this known while representing his principal, Prince Adewole Adebayo on a visit to HRH Oba Joseph Olubiyi Toriola Ajibise Ogo 1 (Ogunsua of Modakeke) of Ile Ife, Osun State on Wednesday, 25th January.
While speaking to the traditional ruler, he said the SDP is inspired by chapter 2 of the 1999 constitution of Nigeria which states that sovereignty belongs to the people, hence when leadership is set up by the people, their job is to look out for the welfare of the people.
He highlighted some of the problems faced by citizens of Nigeria as a result of poverty, saying these are the things the party aims to address if elected.
He said, “We are trying to keep it as simple as possible. We have major problems in this country kabiyesi, poverty is all over the place.
“In the north, some of them go to the dustbin to pick the back of the watermelon, scrape it, they will just leave the white part, cut it like yam put salt and that is what they will boil for their children.
“If you go around some areas at night, you’ll see some people sleeping everywhere on the streets, no shelter. If you go to the hospitals, patients are all over on the floor, no bed, only one doctor with thousands of patients. Nigerians do not deserve this. Nigeria is a blessed country. We have resources, we have professionals, If we can put our house together, all of these things we are seeing, we’ll not be seeing them Kabiyesi”, he added.
He noted that the past 16 years have not improved the welfare of ordinary citizens, and the ruling party has no intention of making things better. He added that the SDP is on this journey in order to make things better for Nigeria.
“16 years have gone 8 years have gone, we notice that it only gets worse every four years. Now again they’ve come with stories telling us that they will improve our welfare but then but before God, before man, before all of us, right on international TV, they are accusing each other of criminal activities.
“I think this is the only time we should pay attention to them and actually listen to them. These criminal accusations that they’re making against each other has nothing to do with us. Kabiyesi, we are on this journey because we make a difference and we are convinced that Nigeria will come first”.
He noted that his principal, prince Adewole Adebayo has decided to dedicate the rest of his life to public service in order to change things for the better in Nigeria.
“My principal Prince Adewole Adebayo said he has dedicated the rest of his life to public service. I share in that vision of what he’s saying, I share in that. This is why we are on this journey.
“We are here to assure you of all the plans that we have set out, even when we get there we’re going to achieve them. We know it’s going to be difficult but we will achieve them by the grace of God”.
While addressing journalists, the Vice Presidential candidate assured that Nigerian youths would have a lot to benefit from the party because they believe the youth are the ones making great achievements for Nigeria as it stands, despite the failure of the government.
In his response, HRH Oba Joseph Olubiyi Toriola Ajibise Ogo 1 prayed for God to help the SDP accomplish its race.
He said, “Well once again I welcome you all. Iwure is better done in Yoruba than in English,so I’m going to do it in Yoruba. But I must say that I am touched by your plan and your vision, so I pray that God will help you to accomplish your race”.
He further gave his ‘iwure’ (royal prayer) for the SDP presidential campaign team.
The campaign team entourage consisted of Dr.Olu Agunloye – National Secretary of SDP, Mr Silas Alani – National Vice chairman south west, Chief Godwin Osigbeme – Director of protocol, Sen. Ugochukwu Uba – Director of Finance and Prof Femi Olufumilade.

The Central Bank  of Nigeria (CBN) on Friday said it has intensified efforts to ensure that all rural dwellers in Taraba have their old naira notes swapped to new ones or deposited in banks before the January 31 deadline.

Mr Jackson Imandi, the CBN   Deputy Director of Other Financial Institutions, Supervision Department disclosed this to newsmen in Jalingo after leading a delegation to visit some of the communities in the state.

According to him, the visit to rural communities was also targeted at  the Point of Sale, (POS) operators, who were  the major points of money transactions for the villagers.

“Within seconds of getting information on our arrival and  the reason for the visit, a long queue was created by residents of Madagan Kifi village in Karim-Lamido Local Government Council to swap their old Naira notes

“Many of them have no bank accounts and relied on the currency swap to keep their Hopes alive after the deadline,” he said.

Imande noted that businesses were beginning to shut down in some  communities because owners were already rejecting the old notes before the arrival of the CBN delegation.

He explained that the CBN delegations  were also at different geopolitical zones in Taraba  for the Naira swap exercise to ensure that those at the grassroots do not end up losing businesses and other means of livelihood, due to the inability to access Nigeria’s new currency, before the January 31 deadline.

Peter Obi will lose Adamawa State because PDP high jacked LP- campaign Chair raises alarm

….Ben says PDP makes vain promises, says they will deliver the state for Obi and Fintiri

By Tom Garba,Yola

Chairman of Peter Obi campaign organization, Reverend Benjamin Obianyor has raised an alarm that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa state have high jacked the party.

Reverend Benjamin who is coordinating the Peter Obi Movement for Presidency (POMP) in the state said the main party loyalists who are foot soldiers for Obi have been neglected and not regarded .

He worried that PDP have made vain promises that are not possible for them fulfill on the ground they will not work for Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate and work for Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential aspirant.

“How is that possible? In a state like Adamawa and Atiku’s strong base with the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the strongest opposition party in the state and you will convince people that they will work for the success of LP against their own candidate.”Benjamin said

He said PDP are just lying to Labor Party in Abuja that they are working round the cloak for Adamawa people to vote for Obi.

Benjamin accused the Labor Party Chairman, Christopher Nicholas of being a sell out betraying the party mandate.

He said: “They have succeeded in brainwashing some party officials by believing them to bring Adamawa state in bulk for Obi at the expense of Atiku who is the bonafide son of the soil and aspiring to be the next President of the country.”

He Worried that the unfortunate situation bedeviling the party is as a result of poor leadership being exhibited by the chairman, Christopher Nicholas.

Reverend Benjamin revealed that the real members of the party are being sidelined and the party’s campaign structure high jacked by the PDP members to further tear the party away .

He accused the likes of Engr Chindar, Gen Sinebi, Prof. Anna Malgwi, Prof. Caleb as all staunch PDP men, planted and working for Fintiri against labour party with the tacit support of some people from the Party Headquarters.

He also revealed that there are many people who are parading themselves as PDP’s council of elders as the main decision makers, and advisers of the Adamawa Labour Party.

This according to him is causing serious rupture leading Labour Party to massive failure.

He said more so that the party’s apparatus is being controlled by PDP and the Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Umar Mustapha Madawaki (Otumba) is caged out of the party’s system.

He wondered why the officials at the headquarters will just be deceived by the fallacy of working for Obi.

“These people are just interested in syphoning Obi’s money to service themselves not our party.

“The party have a gubernatorial candidate, the three senatorial zones have candidates, our House of representatives and state house of assembly are in tact why not entrust the campaign structure to these people?

“I see Obi’s failure in Adamawa if the PDP bunch of intruders are still the party’s decision makers.” Benjamin stated

Why I Decline Chatham House Invitation-SDP Presidential Candidate

Why I Decline Chatham House Invitation-SDP Presidential Candidate
Prince Adewole Adebayo, the SDP’s presidential candidate, has explained why he declined the invitation to speak at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London, also known as Chatham House.
Adebayo claimed that because of respect for Nigeria’s sovereignty, he made the decision not to travel outside the nation to address the electorate.
He said this on Monday at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs’ platform for 2023 presidential candidates, with the theme, “The world of Nigeria and Nigeria in the world: Foreign policy as an adjunct of domestic priorities,” held in Lagos.
The SDP flagbearer lamented that Nigeria’s presidential candidates that were in Chatham House in London had, “further ridiculed and devalued the nation before the world by their appearances.”
He added, “NIIA was set up in 1961 exactly for this purpose that our foreign policy thinking should be scientific, strategical, well reasoned, well researched, and this institution has the legacy at the background and the capacity to advise you on what to say on the world stage.
“All over the world, before you go out to say anything about Nigeria or your country, you go to the premier diplomatic institute in your country and exchange ideas so that outsiders will understand that what you are saying is in tune with diplomatic policy and doctrines of your country.”
On what he will do if elected as Nigeria’s President, Adebayo said he would continue to abide by all international agreements signed and executed by the country.
He noted that he will make sure the finest of the finest represent the country internationally.
He further stressed, “Nigeria has more than enough to abolish poverty, and it must manage its sovereignty well and have full control of its land.
“I have been able to establish the fact that Nigeria’s Afrocentric foreign policy hasn’t brought reciprocal benefits to the country.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has told Simon Ekpa to return the money he collected from his paymasters to destroy Peter Obi’s chances in the 2023 general elections and rescind his planned sit-at-home order during the February 25th presidential election.

The pan Igbo organisation had placed a $50,000 bounty on Ekpa to stop him from carrying out his dastard plans against Peter Obi and the Ndigbo. Then he started commissioning people to intervene and plead on his behalf, but Ohanaeze has said to withdraw the bounty and leave him be, Simon Ekpa must pay back all the money he has collected from his paymasters to carry out his nefarious activities, stop his killer squad in Southeastern Nigeria, repent and apologize for the agonies and inconveniences caused by his activities and crooked falsehoods.

Intelligence reports have it that Simon Ekpa became frightened that his secrets have been uncovered and he quickly retreated and withdrew his response to the $50,000 bounty place on him.

“He has been begging Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the last 24 hours through third parties to reconsider and review the sanctions as well drop the bounty placed on him. Ndigbo’s response to Simon Ekpa’s plea is that he should return the $1 million to the unfavoured and unpopular presidential candidate in order to destroy the support base of Peter Obi through his old-fashioned mantra of NO ELECTION IN BIAFRA LAND and rescind his intentions to declare a four days sit-at-home from 22nd to 26th of February 2023 in the view to disrupt the 2023 presidential elections in the Southeast.

“Ndigbo will resist attempts by Simon Ekpa to scare away voters in the Southeast and South-South through his planned four days sit-at-home, our suspicion was reinforced after Ekpa was asking for forgiveness and we knew that his plans to stop the elections in Southeastern Nigeria were to stop Obedient devotees from voting for Peter Obi and lessen the strength of the presidential candidate in the Southeast.

“The 2023 presidential elections must hold in the Southeast, and Ndigbo must vote for whoever is their choice at the polls. Simon Ekpa must pay back all that he has amassed from the enemies of Ndigbo, stop his killer squad in Southeastern Nigeria, show remorseful repentance and apologize for the inconveniences caused by his rantings and crooked falsehoods to Ndigbo.

“Except he abides by this conditions, Ndigbo will smoke him out of his hideouts in Finland and Europe, as Ndigbo and Nigerians in Finland and Europe have responded positively to the $50,000 bounty placed on him. It’s a matter of time, Simon Ifeanyi Njoku Ekpa will be apprehended, and his extradition to Nigeria will happen shortly so that he can answer to all the crimes and killings he instigated in the Southeast,” Isiguzoro said.
