RINCE ADEWOLE ADEBAYO REITERATES PROMISES OF SDP TO ERADICATE POVERTY, INSECURITY IN NIGERIA

The SDP presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo has reiterated the commitment of his party to end poverty and insecurity in Nigeria.
While flagging off the campaign for SDP Oyo North Senatorial candidate Rt. Hon. Alhaja Mulikat Akande-Adeola in Ibadan, Oyo State on Wednesday, Prince Adewole said the government has always failed to perform its contract with the people.
He noted that the mission, purpose and agenda of the SDP is the welfare of the people.

He said, “We began the journey of 30 years ago with Moshood Kashimawo Abiola; we begun that journey by saying we will say farewell to poverty, but those who had the power of the day did not allow our wish to come to pass. 30 years later, we had more poverty, and on top of poverty, the grandchild of poverty is insecurity”.
“So we have now decided to select the important people, the committed people, the conscientious people, and compassionate people to come together and revive the Social Democratic Party”.
“Our mission, our purpose, our agenda is the welfare of the people”, he added.
The SDP presidential candidate pointed out that according to the Nigerian constitution, it is against the law for anyone to be hungry in Nigeria, and therefore his party will use the resources of the country to take care of the welfare of the people.
“It is against the law under Nigeria Constitution, because if you read chapter 2 of the Constitution; It is against the law to have a hungry man in Nigeria”.
“So I cannot become president without swearing by the constitution, without mentioning Chapter 2 of the Constitution, that I will use the resources of the country to take care of the welfare of the people”, he said.

He described persons in government who have neglected the welfare of the people as law breakers and criminals.
He said, “The wealth of Nigeria, It is not for taking care of politicians, there should be no difference in the house of a politicians and the house of the ordinary person”.
Speaking on education, Prince Adewole further said that the gate way to prosperity is education, which is for advancement and for empowerment.
He assured the people of Oyo state that the SDP will invest in education, with not less than one billion per local government.
“We assure you the 13 local governments of Orogun and the 33 local government of Oyo state that we will give you investment in education, not less than one billion per local government”.
While condemning the act of stealing Nigeria’s oil by those in high places, he noted that the monies coming to Oyo and other states is less than the money being stolen.
He enjoined Nigerians not to hesitate to throw out the persons that have looted the nation of its wealth, and vote in credible leaders.
He said, “American government says if they give Nigeria our gas money, Nigeria has more money than America; so don’t hesitate to throw them out of government”.
“But let me tell you something before you curse politicians, before you say, God will punish them; make sure you’re not collecting their money, because if you say God should punish the thief, God will punish the thief and the person collecting the thief’s money”, he added.

World Diabetes Day: 6% of Nigerians with diabetes have eyes complications- Dr. Ndaks

…….world record hits 37million

Medical Studies have raised concern over growing number of Nigerians with diabetes pointing that out of every 5 Nigerians 1 is diabetic and out of that total over 6% have eyes complications called Retinopathy.

This was the position of Dr. Lilian Ndaks guest lecturer at the World Diabetes Day celebration organized by the National Eye Centre Diabetes-Militus Initiative on the 14th November 2022 at the National Eye Centre, Kaduna.

Ndaks maintained that awareness creation against diabetes is one quick strategy to reduce irreversible blindness.

Earlier, Dr. Paulinus Unung stated that “the target is the grassroot , to ensure everybody knows about it, nobody is spared”

Unung maintained that ” this year’s Diabetes Day is about Educating people, public enlightenment on diabetes should be enshrined in Health education so that people practice abstinence from refined food, regular exercise for the body to take off the risk factor of inactivity.”

He tasks all well meaning Nigerians to form platforms to reach out to the rural areas stressing that puting things in the right perspectives via reaching out can spread the message of healthy life style.

Also speaking on behalf of the participants Dr. Patricia Ella Idoko a consultant cum family Physician re-emphasized that this year’s message is centered on “Access to Diabetes Education since the world record has already hit 37milion, studies indicated that one third of the number not on medication and those on drugs are not eating right.

Dr. Ella tasks health Communicators to sustain communication on diabetes in local languages like Hausa and others stressing that early detection of diabetes saves lives.

The Judgment of Hon Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court Abuja on 31st October, 2022 against Senator Grace Bent, Senator Abubakar Ahmad Moallayidi, Dr Briget Ziddon and Alhaji Sani Jada (Plaintiffs) over the conduct of Adamawa Southern Senatorial District Primary election of the All Progressives Congress , APC, in favour of Engr Adamu Ismaila Numan (defendant) was appealed by the plaintiffs.

Recall Justice Emeka in his ruling said the plaintiffs challenged that Whether the primary election conducted by the 1st Defendant (APC) on 28th and 29th May 2022 wherein vote-buying,fraudulent accreditation of delegates and violence by the 1st Defendant were allowed by the 1st Defendant was conducted in compliance with the provisions of the
Electoral Act 2022, the Constitution of the last Defendant and the Guidelines for the Nomination of Candidates for the 2023 General Elections issued by the 1st Defendant? Having suspended the holding of the primary election.

Justice Emeka ruled that:

“I am of the considered view and I so hold that the alleged disenfranchised
registered voters have no capacity or numeric strength to influence the
outcome of the said primary electlon conducted on the 29th May,2022.7 so
hold.

“On the whole, this case lacks merit and it is accordingly dismissed.” He ruled

The decision of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, sitting at Abuja contained in the Judgment of Hon. Justice Emeka Nwite delivered on the 31st day of October 2022 made Grace Bent, Senator Abubakar Ahmad Moallayidi, Dr Briget Ziddon to approached court of appeal to seek for redress.

The Appellants being dissatisfied with the Judgement hereby appealed to the Court of Appeal upon the grounds set out in their submission in paragraph 3 and shall at the hearing of the appeal seek the reliefs set out in paragraph 4 of this Notice.

Where it stated that:

“The learned trial Judge erred in law in failing to nulliFy the Adamawa South Senatorial primary Election of the 1st Respondent held on 25th May 2022 having found as a fact that
there was non-compliance with the 1st Respondents.Guidelines during the conduct of the said primary election.”

“The learned trial judge erred in law in holdlng that the 1st Respondent’s failure to comply with its timelines for accreditation and voting in its Guidelines, was not a ground to nullify the primary election as there was no miscarriage of justice against the Appellants nor did the failure to obey the said provisions of the Guidelines impact on the outcome of the
primary election.”
